New Month's Resolutions: July and August

I am just going to be realistic here and lump July and August together because until Hunter goes back to school there will be chaos. And I will be looking into going back to work outside of the home at the end of the summer, so more chaos!

June just flew by. Whoa. I am scratching my head wondering what all I did last month. I held a Sseko Trunk Show which was also a mini reunion with some of the ladies from my Montessori training. We went on some outings with friends, and I created a schedule of activities with Hunter that we've been sticking to, so that's good. We have juicing day, baking day, craft day, adventure day, and library day! We booked our vacation which is coming up at the very end of this month... we will visit friends who moved from Zurich to Seattle as well as friends and family in Montana!

As for my goals -- well, I did not get it together to write one last story for Red Tri, but it actually feels good to let that project go. I had started putting too much on my plate and something needed to give, and Red Tri was it. We were outdoors quite a bit, but not as much as I would have liked to. I also did not finish reading that parenting book, so June was kind of a bust. Yeah.

For July and August, I really want to savor these last months before my baby turns one. I want to live a life of gratitude. I want to feel good about myself. I really want to enjoy our family vacation and be present and mindful, so here are my goals.

MIND
Journal daily about one thing for which I am grateful. It just needs to be one line, and it will be a positive way to start the day and stay focused on the beautiful things in life :) If my journal is not handy, or while on vacation, then I will look to the heavens and offer up my gratitude in prayer. I will start tomorrow.

BODY
Do my core exercises. You guys, I am getting better at this one. It is the 14th and I have done the 30-minute workout 8 times now. Not bad, I think. Not great, but better than my other attempts. If I get really motivated, I can do 2 workouts in one day!

SPIRIT
Take more photos, but don't let it get in the way of savoring the moment. I want to do a better job of documenting everyday life with my family, but I also want to be on the other side of the lens every now and again. I also want to make an effort to really play with Hunter. I don't want his memories of me to be that lady behind the camera lens. Finally, I will finish that parenting book!

Wishing you all the best for your goals and plans for the rest of the summer!

  1. girrrrl, your blog is looking fantastic! I always am setting goals for myself but now i'm wondering if its worth it because I always fail and have too high of expectations for myself, haha...but then I think i'm trying to trick myself because of course setting goals is good! anyway, you can imagine after a 3 week vacation I am finding it hard to get back to normal life!
