Cherry Pit Pillow

Our friends Franzi and Ralf, whom we met while living in Switzerland, recently sent us the loveliest baby gift for Hunter all the way from Germany :)

It's called a Kirschkernkissen, or Cherry Pit Pillow. Have you seen or heard of these? I had not and had to look up what to do with it. You stick it in an oven or microwave to heat up the cherry pits, which will actually retain heat for about a half hour. The cherry pits release a soothing, moist warmth as well as a sweet smell. For aromatherapy, add a couple of drops of lavender essential oil to the cover of the pillow. You can use it to keep baby's bed toasty or place it directly on a gassy/colicky belly.

We immediately put it to good use to ease Hunter's midnight gassy fits. I've even used it to sooth my achy neck and back. You can also place it in the freezer and use it as a cold pack. Basically it's an eco-friendly, all-natural cold/hot pack remedy for the whole family!

If the cover gets dirty, just remove it and throw it in the wash!
