Photo Tour of Normal Heights

Join me for a walk down Adams Avenue, will you? This is the neighborhood that Isaiah and I have left behind in pursuit of home-ownership. (It's very reasonable to rent in Normal Heights, but buying a home in this area is PRICEY!)

Our former apartment is technically located in an area called "Adams North," but the neighborhood most San Diegans are familiar with is Normal Heights. I like to think of NH as a quasi-urban area because we had a supermarket, drugstore, dry cleaners, bike shop, restaurants and more all within walking distance from our apartment. (Our new home is in the 'burbs, for reals.)

These are some of the sights and places we will miss...

(Clockwise from top left: A common occurrence in the Freerksen household was an evening walk to Mariposa for homemade ice cream after dinner. One of my favorite used children's books came from this little book shop. We had one of our first dates at Lestat's, and it's also a great place for coffee and muffins on a Saturday morning. At Stuff, we bought a super cool mid-century modern lounge chair... that has yet to be refinished.)

  3. How fun! I'd love to visit there some day. I live in a quasi urban area and always like exploring other places like it. Walkability is super important to me, but at the rate I'm going, living in a semi-urban place means being a renter for life!
