First Hair Cut

For the past month or so, Hunter has looked like this when he wakes up in the morning. Hair is crazy all over the place and we kind of love it. Lately, though, it's been getting in his eyes and full of food, so we decided that after we gave him a Halloween spiky mohawk we would give him his first hair cut. I really wanted to take him to get it done professionally, but in the end I am glad I did it at home because he was a tough customer, plus the extra cash we saved can go towards more fun things for his party next month. I watched a youtube video for some tips and went to snipping. It's not perfect, but it will do...

Also, you can't tell here, but Hunter has two rather unruly cowlicks on the crown of his head. They basically make the hair grow in the direction of a natural mohawk, which he sported for the first several months of life. As it got longer, I was able to comb it down a bit.

For the after shot, I combed it down to flow in the direction of the more prominent cowlick and used a little Dr. Bronner's Organic Hair Creme to hold it down. Since it has only a very light hold, within an hour his hair was sticking straight up in the back. We just let it be, but I was very curious what his hair would look like in the morning after tossing around in his sleep.

Well, his natural mohawk is back! If you can't beat 'em, join 'em, as Isaiah said...

Are you DIY when it comes to cutting baby's hair or did/do you go the professional route?
